It's beginning to look alot like Christmas!

I absolutely love this time of the year! So many great memories. This year since we are trying to cut down on calories, I decided to substitute Christmas memories in our little advent calander instead of the usual candy. It was fun thinking of 24 different memories and also sharing them with my kids. I think we have too little of passing down stories as it is. Sometimes when memories and stories are shared, we realize how different our perspective is from others.

One of my favorite memories is a Christmas when I was in the 5th grade. We lived in Wynne and Grandmother and Grandaddy Tatum lived in Harrison at that time. They were coming to our house for the holidays and it came a great big snow. We were not sure if they would be able to make it or not. I can remember standing by the front window all afternoon watching for them. Shortly after dark, lights could be seen coming up our driveway. All of us ran outside in the snow to greet them. They had to drive their old blue truck because of the weather and it was loaded with fire wood, candy, suitcases, and lots and lots of homemade candy and other sweets. And, of course, presents. I was never so glad to see someone in all my life. At that house we had a woodburning fireplace so the wood was a welcome addition and the memories of the living room lit by Christmas tree lights and those fires is forever etched in my mind.

Merry Christmas to all and may you make some etchings of your own this year!

Things you might or might not know about me...

I saw this list on another blog, and thought...sure why not.

PEOPLE WOULD SAY I'M ....that I am friendly and outgoing. (Depends on who I am talking with)

I DON'T UNDERSTAND...ignorance. Some type of knowledge is around every corner. You do, however, have to put out some effort to obtain it.

WHEN I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING...I really would like to go back to sleep for a little longer unless it is the weekend.

LIFE IS FULL OF...decisions, actions, and consequences.

MY PAST IS FULL OF...good times, mistakes, and lots and lots of cherished memories.

I GET ANNOYED...driving on 540 everyday (I really try hard not to). People can be so inconsiderate.

PARTIES ARE...mostly something in my past, but when they do happen now they are definitely much smaller. Still fun.

I WISH I HAD.....50 more years of life to live!

DOGS ARE...each one is a one of a kind. No two are alike, but I do like having them around.

CATS ARE...so independent...I love them.

TOMORROW.....tomorrow, I'll do it tomorrow.

I HAVE LOW TOLERANCE.....compared to 10 years ago. Just ask my kids.

I'M TOTALLY TERRIFIED OF....closed in places. I do believe they call it claustrophobic.

I WONDER WHY....people have to be cruel.

NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I...had all the money I needed!

HIGH SCHOOL WAS...so long ago (1969)& spent at 3 different schools.

WHEN I'M NERVOUS...you probably would not know it.

TAKE MY ADVICE...brush your teeth at least twice a day. No seriously, make the very most of every day, life really is too short.

MAKING MY BED...happens every morning as soon as I get out of it!

I'M ALMOST ALWAYS...available for my kids.

I'M ADDICTED TO....interesting tasting coffee.

I WANT SOMEONE TO...be glad that they knew me.

I am sure this has told you everything you might possibly want to know about me, if you still have questions....just let me know.

Happy Trails.....

Hogs BB...Willy D's....and more!

This weekend was quite full and fun. Friday night I met Bev and Rick and Zack for a quick supper before the Razorback basketball game. It turned out to be a very exciting game. With 3 minutes left we were behind by 9. It was a little hard to follow the action there for a while due to all the fans leaving. However, we definitely were rewarded by staying when we tied it up with 3 seconds left. The overtime win was close, but exciting.

Saturday, Steve, Dianne, and Connie drove up to do a little shopping and to bring me the wedding cds so that I could print some pictures. After spending 15 minutes in the parking lot of Wal-Mart (we didn't even go in...we were just trying to get back out of the parking lot), we decided to go to Buffalo Wild Wings to eat. Great food and fun times. Hobby Lobby (of course) was our next stop. We were trying to decide what was next on our agenda, when Connie (a.k.a. B.. S...), told us about a piano bar on Dickson. We were there, just a little early but avoided the cover charge and got a great table. Fun was had by all (especially the wedding party next to us).

Sunday was a nice relaxing day of doing things around the apartment. Meg and Flash were in Harrison so I had the whole place to myself. I got started on Christmas ornaments for this year. Meg brought back 8 boxes of Christmas decorations and did not even put a dent in the storage. Definitely time to reorganize the 30 or so boxes of decorations and scale down a little. We built a fire and Hayley came by after she got off work for a little supper before going home to work on a project for a Monday class. This has been her hardest semester so far and will be so glad when it is over. Hard to believe she is a Junior! I think Meg will survive her first semester of college just fine. Whole new ballgame for her though (you know studying and lots of deadlines).

As soon as I get my computer set us at the house, I will include photos.

Something new!

Blogging is something new for me. But, for those who know me well, I am not opposed to changes. I think they are really good for a person (within reason). Besides, from what I can tell, this appears to be really cheap therapy.
